I have lots of lovely old embroidered linens that have passed their usefulness as tablerunners, but it's such a shame to throw away someone's handiwork no matter how old, that I am repurposing one into sachets.
The lavender plants were in full swing this summer, I should have gone out and harvested the flowers one or two more times than I did.
I drew up two rabbit shapes, planned out (sort of) how the cross-stitching would appear as spots on the finished rabbits, and sewed up the shapes. Each rabbit is stuffed with about a half-cup worth of lavender buds.
The fabric is worn linen, with a nice loose weave to allow the lavender fragrance to circulate out better than a tight fabric would. I am going to sell them in my etsy shop, all three as a set. The photos are of the front...
And the back....
Easy to hang or tuck in a drawer. These are more complex to make than I anticipated, the little outer parts of the legs and ears are difficult to turn inside out--so I don't know if I will make more. I might just settle on a less complex shape next time.
