sewing blank book covers

Keeping in mind I'm trying to sew two or three items of many different things so I have a lot of diversity at my Saturday Market booth, I picked up some blank books to sew covers for.  One is spiral, on is hardbound. Would you have a preference if you were buying?  These are journal sized, not sized to fit in your purse.
